MMMMWWWWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Mr Green goes to London ...
... and London will never be the same.
Hurry home William. Mitch and I have plans for you.
Thank you Kenny!
You know I'll be taking you up on a lot of those suggestions! I am, as Linz often complains (and perhaps rightfully so) a bit of a 'headbanging caterwauler' though I am more than open to expanding my admittedly low brow Southern California simple minded musical taste.
Though if Mr. Clapton is in town, I certainly wouldn't mind catching one of his shows, either. And while I'm not *currently* cash-rich (especially since the dollar is all but useless against the pound), I intend to be by the time I visit again!
I promised myself on my next visit I'd have to catch at least one non-musical production, and if only one production preferably something Shakespearian, or something with the incomparable Billie Piper in it (I've seen her on TV and now that she is doing mostly theater I'd love to see her 'live' on stage).
A pub crawl of sorts would also be in order. I can't wait to have some authentic fish and chips and pub lunches and "Boost" Cadbury bars!
I shall have to look at when my visit would have the most liberty/objectivist impact in terms of conferences or seminars - UKIP and BOO events, etc, I'd love to take part in. I'd be inclined to catch a football (soccer) match being as we Southern Californians managed to seduce the Beckhams to our climate. I may even toss in something adolescently geeky as I'm a huge fan of British Sci Fi. AH! My wheels are spinning already and even if it’s a year away I'm plotting my voyage! William, see what you have wrought? Forget Live Earth, its Objectivism on tour!
Look forward to seeing you, Michael
I am almost 100% now so watch out.
There are lots of musicals on at the moment. Lord of The Rings production sounds good. If you like classical music, we have the Proms in the summer. Wigmore Hall's programme is always fabulous.
For the cash-rich, you can't beat the Royal Opera House. Just pity my friend who recently paid £150 to see Don Giovanni only for the lovely Anna Netrebko to retire ill after the first Act.
Seriosly, I'm planning my visit now, Kenny!
I really enjoyed my visit some ten years ago, as much as my visit to New Zealand nine years ago. I got to see, appropriately enough, "Les Miserables" in London for the one and only time I've ever been to a production of that kind in my adult life. If one is going to the theater, it should be in London!
I knew I was going to enjoy myself when immediately upon getting off the 'Underground' ("MIND THE GAP") I emerge from the depths to find a blue Police Call Box circa early 60's standing right in front of me... for Southern California's geekiest "Whovian" that was a spectacular way to start my four-day visit to the UK (hardly enough time).
I'll time my next visit ideally around you being virus-and-injury-free, Kenny.

We missed the
Wimbledon Men's Final, the British Grand Prix and the Tour de France which were on television at the time. Add the bad weather and most places were quieter than usual. We did not have time for the Tower of London, theatre, concerts, galleries or museums. William says that he will probably be back again next year so they will on the list then.
Michael, we did have a great time and I look forward to seeing you across here. There is more going, especially think tank events etc, during the week.
Wow! Clearly I have to visit again...
My favorite tourist spots in London were The Tower of London (my sense of the macabre being what it is) and the pub Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese for a pub lunch that I enjoyed so much I remember it ten years later. Looks like you guys had a great time, and since I've yet to see the London Eye and a good number of the places you visited, I'm certain I must plan my next visit as well.
Great pictures, William!
Wimbledon final
Yes, this Wimbledon had lots of rain, but the Gentlemen's Final was worth the wait! Federer and Nadal put on quite a show!
Jim
Williiam's stamina was impressive
It was cool for this time of the year but the weather was fine - sunny for most of the time. We have just had several weeks of rain in London (as anyone who watched the Wimbledon misery will testify) so it was great to get out and about. We covered a lot of ground and William never showed any signs of tiredness. William probably slept for hours when he got to Cheltenham.
That is so cool!
Way to go, William and Kenny!
Jim
The Green Tour
As it was William's first visit to London, we visited most of the main attractions in central London. It was my first long day out after a nasty virus and a cracked bone in my foot. I could not have done it two weeks ago.
Here is William's tour that will explain the photographs.
1. Paddington station to Oxford Street, Regent Street (Apple Store) and The Clachan pub in Kingly Street.
2. Savile Row, Burlington Street (back of The Royal Academy with statues of Adam Smith and John Locke), New Bond Street and St James's Street.
3. St James's Palace, The Mall and Buckingham Palace.
4. Westminster Abbey, Palace of Westminster, Whitehall (via The Clarence pub) and Downing Street.
5. Trafalgar Square, The Strand and Covent Garden for lunch.
6. Hungerford bridge, London Eye and the newly refurbished Royal Festival Hall (for champagne by the Thames).
7. South Bank, Tate Modern and Millennium Bridge.
8. St Paul's Cathedral, a final drink in The George pub opposite The High Court and bus back to Paddington.
All in 7 hours!!
William then caught a train to his conference in Cheltenham.
Awesome
How cool is that?
Good going guys.
